Homemade play dough

How great is play dough?! It keeps my kids busy for
hours. Unfortunately they have this awesome knack
of leaving it in obscure places and for some reason this
makes the dough dry out....long story short, we had no
play dough in the house. Only little dried out clumps!
So guess what? I made some....shocker! Actually this was
my first attempt and it's so easy and quick I had to share.

Play dough

1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon oil
food coloring
Dump all ingredients in a large sauce pan and
whisk until smooth. Cook over medium heat stirring
constantly. Just cook until it starts to all stick together
and form a ball. Snatch the dough out of the pan and
place on waxed paper until slightly cooled.
Then, knead it for a few minutes! Store it in an air tight
container....so you don't have giant clumps! Seriously, this
took me all of 10 minutes and it's super fun. You could even
let your little monsters help with part of the dumping and
whisking...they'll love you for it!!

  1. Very Cool! I was just cleaning up the bits of play dough from the floor & my daughters shoes this morning… Thanks for sharing the recipe and directions. I can see her loving helping me make this!
