Shabby shirred skirt tutorial

Last year I had a streak of good fortune and found myself winning a couple of blog giveaways. 2 Yards of coordinating fabrics from Urban Farm Girl and an original artwork from Cupcakes for Clara. I can assure you I squealed with each one! If you're not familiar with these ladies, I suggest you take a gander around their blogs. They are both seriously talented women!!

After winning my fabric I honestly was having anxiety about cutting it up. There were just so many things I wanted to do with it but not enough yardage to conquer all. I finally broke down and made myself a skirt. One can't have too many skirts I say....especially during the Summer months.

Shirring has become my go to technique because It's so easy and quick and I've been able to use it in lots of different ways. I don't go into detail on the shirring because let's face it, I had mostly finished the skirt by the time I started taking pictures. But fear not little ones, here's a wonderful tutorial on shirring

Also, here's a fantastic tutorial from my bloggy buddy Rachel of Maybe Matilda. Use her instructions to get your pocket shape.

  2. Have I ever mentioned that you're adorable and I love you? Seriously, I opened this post and looked at that first picture and just thought, "She's so adorable. I love her." Your style is awesome--unique and a little retro without feeling forced or overdone at all--and that skirt is perfect!
