the ellie doll

I haven't sewn nearly as much as I've wanted to.
Sick babies and house work are to blame. Yuck.

Her name was Molly until my 2 year old confiscated
her and named her Ellie. So Ellie she'll be.

I quite like her...although I've always had a soft spot
for simplistic designs. I guess It's probably because I'm
not a very patient person. Meh, patience is overrated.
Right?

At any rate my baby girl was pleased with her so I

suppose that's really all that matters.

nativity finger puppets

This will probably be the last post before Christmas and it's

going to be a lame one because I don't actually have the time

to do the whole tutorial thing.

Last year in my Etsy shop, I sold a couple of these. They're

pretty simple but they take a bit of time unless you're a

hand stitching rock star.

What I thought I'd do is tell you all the basics and you can go

from there.

What you'll need:

1 piece of paper

assorted colors of felt

fabric scraps

embroidery thread

scissors (of course!)

The dimensions of these little puppets are 2.5"x 2". For

durability I also lined them with cute fabric, and any of

the little appendages I doubled the felt. Other wise the

feltkind of stretches and can be pulled off. (Yikes)

The stitch I use the most when working with felt is the

blanket stitch. I just really like how it looks. Click here

for french knots.

Remember that the faces, arms, wings, etc. need to be

stitched on first. When everything is in place (so to speak)

you can blanket stitch around the outer edge.

Happy little monster

So I found this pocket that I was supposed to stick
on an apron a long time ago...ya it never happened.
But I looked at the curvy little scrap and just had
to make a monster out of it.

I know it doesn't seem Christmasy but it is a gift
for one of my little guys.

I think the Happy Monster Band was my
inspiration.

Weird.

beach ball for Christmas

I love homemade toys!! I found this pattern whilst
surfing the net a few months ago. For some reason
when Christmas closes in I get all homespun and
have to make toys. These were fairly simple, and
there are 3 different sizes!

So, if you're like me and like those homemade
Christmases here's the pattern for a fabric
beach ball.
