it's a calendar....but it's pretty.

My husband is functional....okay, I get that. We have a clock to tell us the time. We have a lamp to light up our horribly dark living room and we have a calendar to show us how busy we are.

but.....can't they look okay too? I don't ask him this anymore. Because yes, yes they can. No need to bother
his busy brain with such things.

I know this really isn't original....I just wanted to share because I love this so much and it's soooo easy to do.

Do you have a frame laying around? You do?! good, go grab it....mine's an 11x14. I used an old calendar to get my grid. (The squares are 2x2"). I also used a permanent marker to draw my lines.....oh, and a ruler. I'm not a talented free hander....believe me. Draw your lines on the inside of the glass.

Okay, now this is important.....get CUTE fabric. Heather Bailey, Michael Miller, Amy Butler, ect.... Cut a piece to fit in the frame. Put the back of the frame in place and...

Hang that pretty thing up...Oh, and don't forget to write in the days and the month.

For fun, do the same thing with a smaller frame and use it as a dry erase board....just because then you can buy coordinating fabrics!

hated the book.....LOVE the wreath!!

My hubs and I read the Bourne Identity.....ya,
not as good (not at all) as the movie. Come on, you can't
beat Matt Damon! Well, the book is now very pretty
and I keep finding myself standing in front of the
fireplace admiring it.
Want to make one too? Click here.

Belt repurpose Tute

I have the most fantastic pair of jeans. They're oh so comfy,
I love the way they fit me, and they're really cute.
The problem? They fall off. So I have to wear a belt for
obvious reasons.
We have a strict rule against plummer crack!

Unfortunately, my current belts have gotten pretty gross.
Since fabric is the answer to all the problems in my life I
thought I'd apply it to my belt dilemma.

Tutorial:

Materials:

1 trashed belt (buckle removed)
1/4 yard x 45" fabric
Pellon (uber stiff interfacing)

Start by measuring your belt. Cut your fabric with a 3/8"
seam allowance all the way around and an extra 2-1/2"
in the length.

Top stitch around the entire belt, add buckle and holes.
Initially I was going to set eyelets for the belt holes but
my eyelets were too small, so I used my auto-button holer.
Just roll with the punches baby!!

"eat your greens"

Family reunion in Utah. They said they wanted matching families,
but it's hard to find men's large shirts down to 6/9 months in the
same shade of green. I bought 4 XXXL shirts. I guess it'll work.

Dress to apron

I love love love finding good deals! Often when
I go to the store I'll scan the tops of the clothing
racks and find the clothes that are the cheapest.

I found this really cute white button down dress at
K-Mart last year for 3 bucks. for three dollars I
couldn't NOT buy it! The only problem was that
it was 3 sizes too big.....so naturally it had to become
an apron. Naturally.

girl shirt turned dress

I love myself a fun easy project and when I
saw this on Make it and Love it I just had to
make one. I, of course, had to change it up a
little. I'm sort of dumb that way. I love re-using
and re-purposing though so this was a fantastic
project.

husband's jeans turned girly (this one's for you Aubrey)

My husband has a giant stack of hole riddled grubby jeans
that have tormented me for I don't know how long. So on
Friday I rolled up my sleeves and made a bag (surprise surprise).
DH teases that this bag brings the total to 1 million.
I think he's exaggerating.

and since I had nothing better to do I took tons of pictures
so I could produce a tutorial. If you have questions because
of my spastic directions just email me.

So you'll need the following:

a pair of ratty jeans or some cute Amy Butler fabric
(or whatever you want. This is your bag)

canvas (I used some old canvas curtains)

Coordinating fabric for the lining

1 biggish button

interfacing

Okay now do this:
Cut 2 of these
I pieced the straps because I couldn't get a long enough
piece. Just stitch along the short end and press the seam
open.
Make ruffles by using a loose basting stitch down the
center of each strip and gather by pulling a single thread.
Stitch ruffles and pocket.

Do the same with the lining. Now we're going to square
the corners. Pinch your corners like so:
now pin ém.

Stitch across the line.

Now Stitch!

Fold the loopy thing to make a sort of triangle in the
center. Stitch in place. Also, sew your button onto the
outside of your bag.

Stuff your lining into your bag, baste your straps and
loopy thing in their proper areas. Make sure your straps
are even and your closure will hold the button right.
Now for the exciting part. Stitch around the top of your
cute bag....aaaand your done!

I hung mine on my pantry door so that I could see it.....a lot.

I really like this one.

sweater sleeve scarflet

Add button hole and button in appropriate places

My husband thinks it's silly to wear a sleeve
around my neck.....oh well.
